The lady advised me to buy a new SD card as my original card was 16GB only and most updates are much larger. I was told 2 weeks ago that an update was coming out. Yeah ummm called Hyundai to update my 2016 Sante Fe 7-seater. Canadian customers won’t be able to update their vehicles. Hyundai also says that it is going to be making an announcement soon regarding the availability of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for 2016 Sonata hybrids, Velosters and Azeras. Instructions and videos detailing the upgrade process are found on the website. Hyundai suggests that the download time can take anywhere between 15 minutes to three hours depending on which car the software is for, while install times can take between 20 to 40 minutes. Owners need a USB key or SD card from their navigation system and then can log into, where they will be asked to input their VIN number and download the appropriate software to install the upgrade.

The download is free and can be done at home, but Hyundai is also offering the service at its dealerships for a fee. Owners of the 2015-2016 Hyundai Sonata, 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis, 2016 Elantra GT, 2016 Tucson, 2017 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport with the navigation system or seven-inch touchscreen audio systems will be able to download and install an update to their car’s infotainment system that adds the new smartphone compatibility features. Hyundai owners are now able to upgrade their infotainment systems for free to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
